Docusate Sodium – Casanthranol

Laxative – Stool Softener

Indications And Clinical Uses: Occasional or temporary constipation.

Contra-Indications: When symptoms of appendicitis or intestinal obstruction are present.

Precautions: Do not use in presence of abdominal pain, nausea, fever or vomiting. Use with caution in lactating women as the compound may cause increased stooling in the infant. Frequent or prolonged use may result in dependence on laxatives. Do not administer Peri-Colace within 2 hours of another medicine, to avoid reductions of its effect.

Dosage: Adults: 1 or 2 capsules at bedtime, or as indicated. In severe cases, the dosage may be increased to 2 capsules twice daily or 3 capsules at bedtime.

Availability And Storage: Each maroon gelatin capsule contains: docusate sodium, USP 100 mg and casanthranol (standardized preparation of anthraquinone derivatives from cascara sagrada) 30 mg. Sodium:
