Therapeutic Nutrient

Indications And Clinical Uses: A standard, fibre containing tube feeding (nasogastric, nasoduodenal or jejunal) for patients with normal gastrointestinal function.

Recommended for both short-term and long-term tube feeding.

Not recommended when a low residue tube feeding is required.

Precautions: Not for parenteral administration.

Dosage And Administration: 6 cans [1 500 mL or 7 520 kJ (1 800 kcal)] provides at least 100% of the Canadian RNI (adult males, 25 to 49) for protein and essential vitamins and minerals.

Ready-to-use: Feed at room temperature. Follow a physician’s or dietitian’s directions. When initiating feedings, the flow rate, volume and dilution are dependent on the patient’s condition and tolerance. Care should be taken to avoid contamination of the product during preparation and administration. Additional fluid requirements should be met by giving water orally with or after feedings or when flushing the feeding tube.

Feeding should be initiated at a slow rate. Rate and volume of feeding can be increased gradually over 48 hours if well tolerated. If intolerance develops, return to previously tolerated rate, or dilute formula to half strength until desired rate is achieved, then switch to full strength. Do not alter strength and volume at the same time. Rinse the tube with 20 to 30 mL water after each intermittent feeding or every 3 to 4 hours during continuous feeding to avoid clogging and provide additional water.

Availability And Storage: Each 250 mL ready-to-use can contains: ¹-D water, maltodextrin, corn syrup solids, sodium and calcium caseinates, modified coconut oil (medium chain triglycerides), canola oil, soy cotyledon, potassium citrate, sodium citrate, calcium phosphate tribasic, magnesium chloride, sodium ascorbate, polyglycerol esters of fatty acids, choline chloride, potassium chloride, molybdenum yeast, selenium yeast, *artificial flavor, chromium yeast, niacinamide, zinc sulfate, alpha tocopheryl acetate, ferrous sulfate, D-calcium pantothenate, copper gluconate, manganese sulfate, thiamine hydrochloride, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, vitamin A palmitate, biotin, folic acid, potassium iodide, vitamin K1, maltol, cyanocobalamin and vitamin D3.
