Indications And Clinical Uses: For symptomatic relief of hyperacidity, acid indigestion, heartburn and gas.
Contra-Indications: Alkalosis; hypermagnesemia; where distention may be due to partial or complete intestinal obstruction. Not recommended for severely debilitated patients or those with impaired renal function.

Dosage And Administration: Suspension: Adults, 10 to 20 mL taken 20 minutes to 1 hour after meals and upon retiring. May be mixed with milk or water, except in gastritis, when undiluted administration is recommended.
Tablets: Each tablet is approximately equivalent to 5 mL of the suspension. Adults, 2 to 4 tablets well chewed, 20 minutes to 1 hour after meals and at bedtime. May be followed with water or milk.
Availability And Storage: Suspension: Each 5 mL of mint- or lemon-flavored, creamy, colloidal suspension contains: magnesium hydroxide 200 mg, aluminum hydroxide dried gel USP 225 mg (equivalent to 172 mg aluminum hydroxide) and simethicone 25 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: calcium saccharin, flavors, guar gum, hydroxypropyl cellulose, methylparaben, microcrystalline cellulose, propylparaben, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sorbitol and water. Energy: 3.78 kJ (0.9 kcal)/5 mL. Sodium:
Tablets: Each round, flat-faced, beveled, green (mint-flavored), yellow (lemon-flavored) or pink (cherry-flavored), chewable tablet, engraved “Maalox Plus” on one side and
on the other side, contains: magnesium hydroxide 200 mg, aluminum hydroxide dried gel USP 200 mg (equivalent to 153 mg aluminum hydroxide) and simethicone 25 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: citric acid, cornstarch, D&C Red #30, D&C Yellow #10, dextrose, FD&C Blue #1, flavors, magnesium stearate, mannitol, sodium saccharin, sorbitol, sucrose and talc.
