Magnesium Alginate – Aluminum Hydroxide-Magnesium Carbonate – Magnesium Carbonate

Gastroesophageal Reflux Therapy

Action And Clinical Pharmacology: The liquid or tablets when chewed, produce a viscous demulcent antacid foam barrier which floats on the stomach contents serving as a protective barrier for the esophagus against reflux of gastric contents. The alkaline foam readily flows into the esophagus during reflux aiding in the neutralization of refluxed gastric acids. Maalox HRF also reduces the frequency of reflux episodes.

Indications And Clinical Uses: For symptomatic relief of heartburn, acid indigestion and stomach acid reflux.

Precautions: The divalent cations of magnesium and aluminum interfere with the absorption of tetracycline, iron and phosphate. Patients suffering from renal failure or those taking any form of tetracycline should not use Maalox HRF. Maalox HRF may decrease the absorption of certain drugs such as digoxin, indomethacin, isoniazid, etc.

Adverse Reactions: Nausea, vomiting, eructation and flatulence.
