Indications And Clinical Uses: A nutritionally complete liquid diet specifically designed for patients with fat malabsorption (e.g., inflammatory bowel disease, cystic fibrosis, short bowel syndrome and HIV infection). It provides complete vitamins and minerals with a readily absorbed fat blend. This vanilla flavored beverage can be fed orally or as a tube feeding. tag_DosageDosage

Dosage And Administration: As prescribed by a physician. Tube feeding may be initiated at full strength (30 or 40 kcal/30 mL) or diluted 1:1 with water, based on patient’s condition. If diluted, concentration should be increased as tolerated to full strength to achieve prescribed nutrient intake. The patient’s fluid needs should be monitored and additional water given as needed. Administration via infusion pump is suggested. Bedside reservoir hang time for Lipisorb should not exceed 6 to 8 hours.

Reconstituted powder should be covered, refrigerated and used within 24 hours. Opened cans of Lipisorb powder should be kept covered and stored in a cool, dry place up to 30 days.

Availability And Storage: A readily absorbable fat blend made up of 86% medium chain triglycerides makes Lipisorb appropriate for the total nutritional support of patients with fat malabsorption. It provides 100% Canadian adult RNI for all vitamins and minerals and protein in 2 100 mL. Glucose-, gluten-, lactose- and tartrazine-free. Each can of powder contains: corn syrup solids, MCT oil, sugar, corn oil, artificial vanilla flavor, soy lecithin, salt and essential vitamins and minerals. Provides 2 067 kJ (490 kcal)/100 g. Osmolality: 320 mOsm/kg water. Cases of 6 (340 g).
