Aluminum Hydroxide – Magnesium Hydroxide

Antacid

Indications And Clinical Uses: Provides fast relief of heartburn, acid indigestion, hyperacidity and acid reflux.

Contra-Indications: Alkalosis, hypermagnesemia, where distention may be due to partial or complete obstruction; not recommended for severely debilitated patients or those with impaired renal function.

Manufacturers’ Warnings In Clinical States: Do not take more than 8 tablets or 40 mL during a 24 hour period. Do not take for more than 2 weeks or do not take if you suffer from kidney disease, except under your physician’s advice. Antacids can interfere with the absorption of iron preparations and/or tetracyclines.

Precautions: Magnesium salts, in the presence of renal insufficiency may cause CNS depression. Aluminum hydroxide, in the presence of low phosphorus diets, may cause phosphorus deficiency. Aluminum salts tend to cause constipation. Do not administer concomitantly with tetracycline antibiotics or iron preparations.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Overdose: Symptoms and Treatment: Symptomatic.

Dosage: Adults: 5 to 10 mL or 1 to 2 tablets 4 times daily, 20 to 60 minutes after meals and at night or as directed by the physician.

Availability And Storage: Suspension: Each 5 mL of white, peppermint-flavored suspension with a milky appearance contains: aluminum hydroxide wet gel (equivalent to 494 mg aluminum hydroxide) and magnesium hydroxide 300 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: alcohol (1%), flavor, guar gum, hydrogen peroxide, parabens and sorbitol. Energy: 20 kJ (4.7 kcal). Sodium:
Tablets: Each round, white, mint-flavored tablet, intagliated DIOVOL EX on one side, contains: aluminum hydroxide dried gel 600 mg (equivalent to 459 mg aluminum hydroxide) and magnesium hydroxide 300 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: calcium cyclamate, flavor, gelatin, magnesium stearate, mannitol, sorbitol and starch (contains gluten). Energy: 7.5 kJ (1.8 kcal). Sodium:
