Acetaminophen – Codeine Phosphate – Caffeine Citrate

Analgesic – Antipyretic

Indications And Clinical Uses: The relief of mild to moderate pain of various causes as in headache, migraine, dental pain, dysmenorrhea, myalgias and neuralgias. As an antipyretic when fever accompanies painful conditions.

Contra-Indications: Acetaminophen and/or codeine hypersensitivity.

Precautions: See Atasol Preparations.

Adverse Reactions: Codeine: Adverse reactions due to codeine phosphate may include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting and constipation. Infrequent adverse effects include palpitation, pruritus and, rarely, hyperhidrosis and agitation have been reported. Respiratory depression is seen in higher dosage and the potential for habituation may occur.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Overdose: Symptoms: See Atasol Preparations. Codeine overdosage is manifested by marked respiratory depression, significant miosis (pinpoint pupils), sweating, itching, lightheadedness, headache, nausea, vomiting, insensibility to pain. In severe cases: deep coma and significant CNS depression. Death is usually produced by respiratory failure.

Codeine: Gastric lavage, intubation measures aimed at supporting respiration and the administration of a narcotic antagonist, e.g., naloxone.

Dosage And Administration: Atasol-8: Adults: 1 to 2 tablets every 4 hours (maximum: 2 tablets 6 times daily). Children: 12 to 14 years: only when recommended by a physician or dentist: 1 tablet 3 times daily (maximum: 1 tablet 4 times daily).

Atasol-15 and Atasol-30: Adults: 2 to 4 tablets daily or as prescribed by a physician or dentist.

Availability And Storage: Atasol-8: Each light peach, round, biconvex tablet bisected on one side, imprinted ATASOL on one section, and 8 on the other, plain on other side, contains: acetaminophen 325 mg, codeine phosphate 8 mg, caffeine citrate 30 mg (equivalent to 15 mg caffeine). Nonmedicinal ingredients: alumina, cellulose, D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Yellow 6, magnesium stearate, povidone, silicon dioxide, starch (corn) and stearic acid. Energy: 0.4 kJ (0.1 kcal). Gluten- and tartrazine-free. Bottles of 30, 100 and 500. Unit dose packages of 500.

Atasol-15: Each light yellow, round, biconvex tablet bisected on one side, imprinted ATASOL on one section, and 15 on the other, plain on the other side, contains: acetaminophen 325 mg, codeine phosphate 15 mg, caffeine citrate 30 mg (equivalent to 15 mg caffeine). Nonmedicinal ingredients: alumina, cellulose, D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Yellow No. 6, magnesium stearate, povidone, silicon dioxide, starch (corn) and stearic acid. Energy: 0.4 kJ (0.1 kcal). Gluten- and tartrazine-free. Bottles of 50, 100 and 500. Hospital Control Packs of 1 000. Unit dose packs of 500.

Atasol-30: Each pale green, round, biconvex tablet bisected on one side, imprinted ATASOL on one section, and 30 on the other section, plain on the other side, contains: acetaminophen 325 mg, codeine phosphate 30 mg, caffeine citrate 30 mg (equivalent to 15 mg caffeine). Nonmedicinal ingredients: alumina, cellulose, D&C Yellow No. 10, D&C Green No. 5, FD&C Yellow No. 6, magnesium stearate, povidone, silicon dioxide, starch (corn) and stearic acid. Energy: 0.4 kJ (0.1 kcal). Gluten- and tartrazine-free. Bottles of 50, 100 and 500. Hospital Control Packs of 1 000. Unit dose packs of 500.
