Analgesic – Muscle Relaxant

Indications And Clinical Uses: Provides effective relief of back pain by reducing muscle spasms and relaxing tense back and neck muscles, thereby increasing mobility.

Precautions: Consult a physician or pharmacist before taking this medication if you: have a predisposition to asthma, stomach problems, peptic ulcer, severe liver disease, gout, severe anemia or allergy to salicylates; have a history of blood coagulation defects; are receiving anticoagulant drugs; are scheduled for surgery within 7 days; are taking anti-inflammatory drugs, anticonvulsants, antidiabetic or gout medicine or other medications containing salicylates or acetaminophen.

Caution: This package contains enough medication to seriously harm a child. Keep out of children’s reach. Children and teenagers should not use this medicine for chickenpox or flu symptoms before a doctor is consulted about Reye’s Syndrome, a rare but serious illness reported to be associated with ASA.

Pregnancy and Lactation: Consult a physician before taking when pregnant or nursing. It is especially important not to use this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy unless specifically directed to do so by a physician because it may cause problems in the unborn child or complications during delivery.

Occupational Hazards: This medication may cause drowsiness. Do not drive or engage in activities requiring alertness. Avoid alcohol.

Adverse Reactions: Like all medicines, ASA may occasionally produce unwanted side effects. A physician should be contacted if any of the following reactions develop during treatment: bleeding or irritation of stomach, nausea, vomiting, pain; any loss of hearing, including ringing or buzzing in the ears; skin rashes, hives or itching; breathing difficulties.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Overdose: Symptoms and Treatment: In case of accidental overdose, contact a physician or Poison Control Centre at once, even in the absence of symptoms.

Dosage: Adults: Take 1 or 2 caplets every 4 hours as necessary, up to 8 caplets daily. May be taken with milk or water, if desired. It is hazardous to exceed the maximum recommended dose unless advised by a physician. If these doses do not bring relief, and pain persists for more than 5 days, this is an indication that the advice of a physician is required. Use only as directed by a doctor.

Availability And Storage: Each pale green, oblong caplet, with embossed “BAYER” on one side, contains: ASA 500 mg and methocarbamol 400 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: carnauba wax, colloidal silicon dioxide, cornstarch, croscarmellose sodium, FD&C blue No. 2, hydrogenated vegetable oil, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, polyvinylpyrrolidone, sodium lauryl sulfate, synthetic yellow iron oxide and titanium dioxide. Lactose-, parabens-, sucrose- and tartrazine-free. Bottles of 18 and 40.
