Topical Anesthetic

Indications And Clinical Uses: Anbesol: For temporary pain relief of toothache, denture irritation, brace pain, minor mouth irritations, cold sores, sun and fever blisters and canker sores.

Anbesol Baby: For temporary relief from the pain and irritation associated with teething.

Contra-Indications: Anbesol: Known sensitivity to any of the ingredients.

Anbesol Baby: Known sensitivity to any of the ingredients.

Precautions: Not for prolonged use. If condition persists or irritation develops, discontinue use. Avoid contact with eyes.

Anbesol: Use under dentures or other dental work only as directed below. Flammable. Do not use near fire or flame. Avoid smoking during application and until product has dried.

Dosage And Administration: Anbesol: To be applied topically to the affected area. For denture irritation: Apply thin layer to the affected area and do not reinsert dental work until irritation/pain is relieved. Rinse mouth before reinserting dentures.

Anbesol Baby: Apply a small amount on the infant’s irritated gums with a cotton swab or finger tip. Reapply as necessary up to 4 times daily.

Availability And Storage: Anbesol: Extra Strength Gel: Each plastic tube contains: benzocaine 20%. Nonmedicinal ingredients: alcohol, carbomer, D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Red No. 40, flavor, polyethylene glycol and saccharin. Tubes of 7 g.

Gel: Each plastic tube contains: benzocaine 6.4% and phenol 0.5%. Nonmedicinal ingredients: alcohol, camphor, carbopol, D&C Red No. 33, D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Yellow No. 6, flavor and glycerin. Tubes of 7 g.

Liquid: Each glass bottle contains: benzocaine 6.5%, phenol 0.45%, camphor 0.25%, menthol 0.25%. Nonmedicinal ingredients: alcohol, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Yellow No. 6, flavor and glycerin. Bottles of 10 mL.

Maximum Strength Liquid: Each glass bottle contains: benzocaine 20%, phenol 0.45%, camphor 0.25%, menthol 0.25%. Nonmedicinal ingredients: alcohol, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Yellow No. 6, flavor and polyethylene glycol. Bottles of 10 mL.

Anbesol Baby: Gel: Each plastic tube contains: benzocaine 7.5%. Nonmedicinal ingredients: calcium cyclamate, carbomer, clove oil, D&C Red No. 33, disodium edetate, flavor, glycerin, polyethylene glycol and water. Tubes of 7 g.

Grape Gel: Each plastic tube contains: benzocaine 7.5%. Nonmedicinal ingredients: benzoic acid, carbomer, D&C Red No. 33, disodium edetate, FD&C Blue No. 1, flavor, glycerin, parabens, polyethylene glycol, saccharin and water. Tubes of 7 g.
