Indications And Clinical Uses: Oral administration of electrolyte replacement for infants and children who have experienced electrolyte and fluid loss due to mild or moderate diarrhea and who do not require parenteral therapy.

Contra-Indications: Do not use in the presence of severe, continuing diarrhea or other critical fluid losses requiring parenteral fluid therapy; in intractable vomiting, adynamic ileus, intestinal obstruction or perforated bowel; when renal function is depressed (anuria, oliguria) or homeostatic mechanisms are impaired. tag_DosageDosage

Dosage: For infants and young children, the requirement should be calculated on the basis of body surface area. Estimated daily water requirements such as the following may be used as a general guide: For maintenance in illness: 1 500 mL/mof body surface area. For maintenance plus replacement of moderate losses: 2 400 mL/mof body surface area.

Availability And Storage: Each mL of solution contains: water, dextrose, potassium citrate, sodium chloride, sodium citrate and citric acid. Energy: 10.5 kJ (2.5 kcal)/30 mL. Each L of solution provides: sodium 50 mEq, potassium 25 mEq, citrate 30 mEq, chloride 45 mEq. Available for hospitals in ready-to-use disposable Nursette bottles of 113 mL.
