Do not take for more than 2 weeks or if symptoms recur, unless directed by a physician. Do not take if you suffer from kidney disease except on your physician's advice. Do not take within 2 hours of another medicine, because the effectiveness of the other medicine may be altered. Antacids can interfere with the absorption of iron preparations and/or tetracyclines. Precautions: Avoid concomitant use with tetracycline antibiotics and/or iron preparations. Symptoms And Treatment Of Overdose: Symptoms: In the presence of renal insufficiency, accumulation of magnesium in circulation may cause CNS depression. Chronic ingestion may lead to phosphorus deficiency in presence of low phosphorus diet. tag_Treatment Treatment: Symptomatic. Dosage: Adults: 10 to 20 mL of suspension or 2 to 4 tablets or caplets taken 4 times daily as needed between meals and at bedtime or as directed by the physician. Availability And Storage: Caplets: Each light blue, oval, convex, beveled edged, opaque, film-coated, mint-flavored caplet, plain on one side, intagliated DIOVOL on the other, contains: dried aluminum hydroxide gel 200 mg and magnesium hydroxide 200 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: alumina, cellulose, cornstarch, FD&C Blue No. 2, FD&C Red No. 3, flavor, gelatin, glycerin, magnesium stearate, propylene glycol and titanium dioxide. Suspension: Each 5 mL of opaque, white suspension with a mint flavor and a peppermint and spearmint odor (pH: 7.3 to 8.5) contains: aluminum hydroxide 165 mg (as aluminum hydroxide compressed gel) and magnesium hydroxide 200 mg.
